Six jewellery shops robbed in Pakistan!
"...Muhammad Aslam, an eyewitness, also running his cloth dyeing shop in Mian Ishtiaq Market, said at 7:40pm 17-armed robbers entered the market and held two security guards at gunpoint. He said two of them then entered Suhail Jewellery Shop. He said other robbers entered five other jewellery shops including Vicky jeweller, Saqib jeweller, Al-Hamza jeweller, Muskan jeweller and Marhaba jeweller. They held shopkeepers at gunpoint, he said. He said 12 robbers while coming out of the shops with bags on their shoulders also fired several shots in the air. They then escaped on 8 snatched motorcycles. The police said the robbers escaped with valuables worth Rs 25,000,000..."

"...Surat police registered one of the largest incident of theft on Saturday after three security guards at a diamond polishing unit allegedly stole diamonds and cash worth Rs 2 crore from the office safety vault of Aviraj Diamonds and Gems in Kapodara area of the city. The three men drugged eight other security guards to reach the vault which contained several pouches of diamonds and about Rs 7 lakh in cash. Investigating authorities suspect the accused are professionals and that more people could be involved..."

An update on Irradiated Gemstones

"... Eight of the nine batches of gems, which averaged around 500 carats each, showed only background levels of radiation, while one registered at "twice background." Background levels refer to radiation that is picked up merely because a survey meter is turned on because there are already low levels of radiation present in the atmosphere. By measuring "twice background," it implies that there are low levels, but nothing that would be considered dangerous or hazardous to health."
